Loyalty Passes: We Deserve Better
Loyalty programs support consumer experiences for brands like Starbucks, Sephora, American Express and many more. For as long as they have existed individuals would need to sign up for plastic cards or isolated offerings. Their data was limited solely to that specific product and centralized infrastructure prevented users from porting data across the internet? Privacy is not just security, but ensuring ONLY the right parties can access and consume that data.
Now, imagine enrolling in a Loyalty program simply by engaging with your top products. No subscriptions, no interest bearing plastic, just activity. In web3, each user's activity is often publicly accessible. However this information lacks context and is often very difficult to consume. Our goal is to make this information more human digestible.Consumers deserve greater sovereignty, control, and freedom over their private data. Today, Gateway delivers on this promise.
LI.FI Loyalty Pass
Gateway and LI.FI are excited to be working together to issue the LI.FIi Loyalty Pass to its ecosystem participants. This is open for various stakeholders across LI.FI, from traders on Jumper Exchange, to discord helpers, to community developers. Gateway is building the thesis that Private Data Assets (PDAs) serve as the foundation of digital identities, a new social primitive allowing you to carry your activity across chains. Or as LI.FI calls it, building your Xchain identity!
LI.FI’s interest in PDAs existed since inception, as they perceive recognition should be directly linked to one’s digital sovereign identity. More importantly, said identity should not be limited to a single chain but instead able to aggregate one’s contributions across multiple chains and protocols. On top of this, on- chain activity is only a piece of the puzzle. While there are great ways to drive marketing and protocol TVL via marketing campaigns, LI.FI is deeply grounded in the concept of meritocracy. A principle Gateway holds dear to its mission. This is why Gateway’s infrastructure allows teams to issue Loyalty Passes (powered by PDAs).
In the past LI.FI worked diligently with Gateway’s team for product education, drive blog engagement, and drive social media interactions via Twitter, and more. Now we are building a vision to deliver more PDAs; generating a Loyalty Pass to aggregate and engage consumer activity.

PDAs: The Foundation
This is the billion dollar question.
LI.FI and Gateway believe that ecosystem standardization is the key to building interoperable products and communities. Composability isn’t limited to smart contracts that transfer assets, but also to your decentralized identity. Private Data Assets are the first time in which individual users will take ownership of their data and dictate their experience across the web.
PDAs are the foundations of one’s identity. In the real world, our identity is defined by a birth certificate, degrees, job endorsements, licenses, and more. We hope to not only digitize traditional forms of identity attestations but also to improve upon them using web3 capabilities. Whether you are a top user on LI.FI, or a liquidity provider at Uniswap, or a lender at AAVE - all of this adds up to your GatewayID. We believe PDAs are the first way to aggregate all this info seamlessly and carry it irregardless of the underlying blockchain or auth-method (wallet, google, email, etc).
Gateway’s PDA design is leveraging the most novel of web3 technologies while maximizing on the UX we have come to love in web2. This is why PDAs are defined by issuers, but owned and controlled by users. This is done as all PDAs are encrypted, meaning you decide who you want to share your PDA access with. In order for people to “see” your PDAs they will need to request access and verify (which can be seamlessly enabled by Gateway’s Verify Widget).
We hope Gateway’s PDA network allows projects to hone in on user activity, engagement, skills, and value adds. Gateway will serve as the home of identity aggregation and data composability for organizations, institutions, and consumers alike!
How does the Loyalty Pass work?
The LI.FI Loyalty Pass has tiers to track a user’s progress over a season. The first season will track user’s growth from Baby to Bronze, to Silver, to Gold etc. Each tier has its own range, and the main way to grow is by interacting with LI.FI’s Jumper Exchange (at least today). Loyalty passes are PDAs, so you as the holder will be able to choose who to share this with and who can access the Pass data. This allows the user to have full sovereignty over their experience with LI.FI, partners, and the broader web3 ecosystem.
Baby: 0-50 Points
Bronze: 51-150 Points
Silver: 151- 350 Points
Gold: 351- 700 Points
Platinum: 701-1100
Tungsten: 1100+
How do I earn points?
Users of the LI.FI’s Jumper Exchange platform will earn PDAs based on 3 different categories (Earn 3 per month, one per category)..
- Volume (In USD)
- # of Transactions
- # of Chains Used
For each of these users can earn a series of PDAs which dictates the user’s points. Note there are 6 PDAs you can earn for each category (Baby, Power User, Chad, Ape, Degen, and Grand Degen). Make sure to consistently engage every month, and keep track of your progress by viewing your loyalty pass on Gateway! These PDAs for activity will be issued at month end, based on the activity over the course of the previous month. Make sure to check back in at the beginning of each month to see where your progress is at! So every month you will receive PDAs which will “stack” up to increase the points and power your Loyalty Pass.
The more you interact consistently the more benefits and rewards within LI.FI’s ecosystem you will receive!
However, just as you can earn PDAs to increase your Loyalty Pass points, inactivity will result in negative points. And eventually the loyalty pass will reset.
Loyalty Passes: The Future of Engagement, Retention, and Consumer Collaboration
PDAs allow you, the Issuer (organization) to take your datasets and package them into encrypted, portable formats for mass distribution and consumption. In this case, Loyalty Passes aggregate and make complex on-chain activity clear and usable.
The issuer (LIFI) is able to grant certain perks like ability to bridge without fees, access to exclusive Jumper Exchange/LI.FI events, random rewards, beta access to platforms, and even real life swag. Loyalty Passes via Gateway enable a new level of consumer marketing and data interoperability for growth.
Moreover, trying to get teams to always integrate complex APIs just to achieve data is limiting. Most teams do not have time nor the resources to configure, request, and then organize datasets from external parties. But now LI.FI is able to make their data more interoperable across the ecosystem. For example, an NFT service could verify if users are LI.FI loyalty pass holders, and award them with unique collectibles (Be on the lookout for Mercle’s Custom NFT Avatar). This allows LI.FI’s partners to engage with its massive audience, user’s gain unique experiences/benefits all while controlling their data, and LI.FI creates powerful and automated distribution products.
